Wasini sits directly across the channel from us. There are no cars on the island and no roads to speak of — just a Swahili fishing village that has worked these waters for centuries.
Walk the village with a local guide, then out to the coral gardens, where a raised boardwalk crosses fossilised coral and mangrove forest. At low tide the formations are exposed and strange, like something left behind by a different sea.

Best at low tide, when the coral gardens are exposed. Half day. The coral gardens boardwalk fee is payable locally — KES 200 for Kenyans, KES 300 for visitors. No marine park fees apply.
