About
A little about us
Kasa Pomboo sits on a quiet cliff in Shimoni, on Kenya's South Coast.
We fell in love with this place for all the obvious reasons — the ocean, the views, the old baobab trees and just how peaceful it is. But the more time we spent here, the more we realised how much there is to experience around us too.
Dolphins pass through the channel in front of the hotel. Sea turtles are regular visitors. At low tide, you can walk down our cliffside steps and explore the reef below. And just beyond us is Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park, with some of the most beautiful marine life on the Kenyan coast.
We wanted Kasa Pomboo to be a comfortable place from which to enjoy all of it.
Where the name comes from
Why Kasa Pomboo?
Our name comes from two very special neighbours.
Kasa means sea turtle and Pomboo means dolphin in Swahili.
We are lucky enough to see both in the waters around us, and the name felt like the simplest way to tell a little of the story of where we are.
Our approach
Built around what was already here
When we started building Kasa Pomboo, we didn't want to lose what made the property beautiful in the first place.
The old baobab trees are still here. The cliff is still wild. The ocean is still the star of the show.
We have simply built around it — comfortable rooms and cottages, good food, a pool overlooking the sea and plenty of little places to sit and enjoy where you are.
Kasa Pomboo is also fully solar powered, and as we grow, we want to keep finding thoughtful ways to work with the environment and community around us.

Explore Shimoni
Come for Shimoni too
We really want our guests to experience this part of the coast, not just stay at the hotel.
Kisite is right on our doorstep. You can spend the morning looking for dolphins and snorkelling, visit Wasini Island, explore the Shimoni caves, take a dhow out on the water, walk through the mangroves or head out fishing.
And on the days you don't feel like doing much, don't.
Have a long breakfast. Sit by the pool. Watch the boats go past. Look out for dolphins from the restaurant.
That's part of being here too.
Welcome
Karibu Kasa Pomboo
We are a small, family-built hotel, and perhaps that's why we like things to feel easy here.
Good food. Comfortable spaces. A beautiful part of Kenya to explore. And a team that is genuinely happy to have you.
We hope you love Shimoni as much as we do.
