Standard Double Room

Our Standard Double is the room most guests picture when they imagine Shimoni: a carved Swahili four-poster bed dressed in a soft mosquito net, coral-stone and timber detailing, and a private balcony where the garden opens onto the Shimoni channel, with Wasini Island visible across the water. It's a compact, comfortable room built for couples and solo travellers who want to be close to the water without paying for space they won't use.

Step through French doors onto your own balcony seating for two — coffee at sunrise, a sundowner as the dhows head home. Inside, air conditioning keeps things cool through the afternoon, and the ensuite bathroom keeps the same coastal character as the rest of the hotel: a rain shower behind a glass-block screen, a coral breeze-block window for natural light, and refillable, reef-safe bath products.

Why guests choose the Standard Double
This is the room for a straightforward, beautiful base between adventures — a boat out to Kisite-Mpunguti Marine Park to swim with dolphins and snorkel the reef, an afternoon exploring Shimoni's 19th-century slave caves, or simply a sundowner on your own balcony as the channel goes gold. It's Shimoni without the extras you don't need, at the water's edge.
